As originally designed and built in 1904, the Marine Corps quartermaster depot was an impressive five-story, Greek-styled building made of stone, red brick and concrete, characterized by Ionic-style brick columns complete with scrollwork and cornices. It served as an administrative and warehousing facility, and is located at South Broad Street and Washington Avenue.
In 1908, the building was extended southward to Alter Street – The Marine Corps bought six lots and another building was constructed and connected to the rear of the main building. The interior was then renovated to accommodate the command headquarters, administrative offices and a data processing facility. The basement contained an armory, gymnasium and storerooms. Marine Club Loft Condos is home to 110 Over 70, a Health and Fitness Center with state of the art equipment, locker rooms, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. This 9,000 square foot facility, located on the lower level of the building, features 16-foot ceilings and floor to ceiling mirrors throughout. Available for Marine Club residents and current 110 Over 70 members, the Health and Fitness Center offers convenience as well as a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
